“What is the meaning of this nonsense?”, they asked.
This list is not supposed to represent the “most artistic” or “most creative” or “most popular” or “most likely to be classics” or anything along those lines. This is just what I like.
I gave up pretty early the concept of ranking them all in order, so I cheated somewhat and just alphabetized everything in the 26-50, 51-75, and 76+ categories.
I also had a lot of trouble figuring out what to do with singles, compilations, remixes, live recordings, and the like. So I just separated them out, grouping them as I rated them. Obviously the live stuff is in chronological order.
For years, I’ve been making these year-end list of my favorite new rekkids. For 2002 I decided to go all out and track down A LOT of new music. In the end I overwhelmed myself, over 200 (!!) new items. And I know there are a bunch I missed out on.
I know I have my older lists tucked away in email somewhere (in the rather unfriendly raw Outlook-files format), perhaps some day I will unearth them.
Got yer own list?
How about some comments?
